Hola! My name is Barbara Araya, and I'm a Chilean UX/UI designer living in San Francisco, California.
I started my design journey by first getting a Graphic Design degree in Chile, where I focused most of my time working as a freelance designer. I loved this mix because it allowed me to tie some of the formal education I received into the dynamic world of freelance. I learned a lot really quickly! After a while, Canada was my next stop, where I spent a year as a solo trip exploring and then visiting for a few months in the US. When I came back to Chile, I worked as a Visual Designer for a worldwide social media company, which made me think about the user as the center of the experience when interacting with digital products. After a few years, I moved to the Bay Area, where I had the opportunity to study Digital Photography and User Experience (UX) Design at UC Berkeley Extension.
What I love about being a UX/UI Designer is I can help to improve people's lives by making better experiences with their products/services. All of that, via human-centered-design and being a problem-solver. Additionally, I also enjoy collaborating in multidisciplinary teams. I can contribute with my skills as a professional, aiming for a healthy and sharing environment that leads to all of us learning so much!
You might notice that I love to travel. That's why I have a travel blog called Made in SCL, because discovering new places and cultures is another of my passions, along with photography, hiking, and knitting... yes, I'm also a DIY person.
I'm always looking for new challenges and constantly evolving as a UX/UI designer. Get in touch with me... I'd love to hear from you! (Also you can send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org).
